Abstract:
A method for solidifying radioactive waste, according to the present invention, performs mechanical treatment, such as ball milling, on an ion exchange resin on which a radioactive material is adsorbed, so as to atomize same, and thus can greatly reduce volume up to 40% or more during solidification, and can improve the convenience of follow-up treatment and improve handling and stability. In addition, an epoxy resin is added, as a solidifying agent, to the ion exchange resin, which is radioactive waste, thereby enabling the prevention of the leakage of ionizing radiation that is emitted when a radioactive isotope decays.
