Abstract:
An air conditioner and a sterilization method for sterilizing a fan are provided. According to one embodiment, the air conditioner comprises a fan, a fan motor, an ultraviolet output module, at least one memory for storing one or more instructions, and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor executes the one or more instructions stored in the memory so as to: control the ultraviolet output module to irradiate a partial area of the fan with ultraviolet light, thereby sterilizing the partial area; rotate the fan after sterilization of the partial area so as to change the area to be sterilized; determine, according to stopping of the fan, whether the area of the fan being irradiated with ultraviolet light is an area sterilized by means of the ultraviolet output module; and drive the fan motor so as to rotate the fan again on the basis of the determination that the area of the fan being irradiated with ultraviolet light is a sterilized area, thereby changing the area to be sterilized.
