Abstract:
This method for superfinishing a bearing roller 4 involves: arranging a pair of feed drums 51, 52 in parallel with each other which have spirally continuous guiding screw surfaces 54a, 54b on the respective outer peripheries and which are rotationally driven about central axes L1, L2, respectively, the feed drums 51, 52 supporting and rotating a workpiece W, which is the bearing roller 4, by means of the guiding screw surfaces 54a, 54b opposed to each other so as to feed the workpiece W between the feed drums 51, 52; and processing, by means of grindstones 53, the outer peripheral surface of the workpiece W passing between the feed drums 51, 52. The method is characterized by changing the thread root angles β of the guiding screw surfaces 54a, 54b on the basis of the axial positions of the feed drums 51, 52, feeding, once, the workpiece W passing between the feed drums 51, 52, and thereby, superfinishing a straight section 9a of the roll surface 9 of the bearing roller 4 and logarithmic-curve crowning parts 9b, 9c at both ends of the straight section 9a.
