Abstract:
A method and a facility capable of suppressing the rise of the temperature of the side wall surface of a tank and rapidly extinguishing the fire of the tank when the fire occurs in the tank. The fire extinguishing agent (100) is jetted from near the side wall surface (13) of the tank on the upper side of the level (16a) of an inflammable liquid (16) in the approximately cylindrical tank (12) storing the inflammable liquid (16). For extinguishing the fire, the extinguishing agent is jetted in directions deviated by a specified angle from the direction of center of the tank (12) to the circumferential direction of the tank (12) to cause a tornado-like ascending current part (22) at the center of the tank and to supply the extinguishing agent (100) while turning in the circumferential direction of the tank (12).
