Abstract:
 Provided is a method in which a casein hydrolysate, which is obtained by hydrolyzing animal milk casein, contains free amino acids and peptides, and has an average chain length of not more than 2.1 in terms of the number of amino acid residues, or a composition containing a mixture of the free amino acids and peptides contained in the hydrolysate is orally administered before starting exercise, during exercise, or both before and during exercise. Further provided is a composition for oral administration to be used according to the above-mentioned method, said composition containing, as an active ingredient, the casein hydrolysate, which is obtained by hydrolyzing animal milk casein, contains free amino acids and peptides, and has an average chain length of not more than 2.1 in terms of the number of amino acid residues, or the mixture of the free amino acids and peptides contained in the hydrolysate. Still further provided is the use of the composition for oral administration to suppress an increase in heart rate during exercise.
