Abstract:
Disclosed in the present invention is a method for synthesizing hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride. Specifically, at a temperature of 55-80°C, maleic anhydride is polymerized in an aqueous solution or a molten state by using a single system or a complex system containing an azo water-soluble initiator, so as to synthesize hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride having a molecular weight of 1000 to 3000. The azo water-soluble initiator can be 2,2'-azobisisobutamidine dihydrochloride, 2,2'-azobis(2-methyl-N-(1,1-dimethylol-2-hydroxyethyl)propionamide), or a complex system thereof with a reducing substance. In the method, a water-soluble azo substance is used as an initiator for initiating double bond polymerization of maleic anhydride at a low temperature, the initiation efficiency is high, the molecular weight of the product is relatively high, the water solubility is good, few by-products are produced, and the yield can reach 95%; and in the method, water is used as a solvent, the reaction conditions are mild, and the decomposition rate of the reaction monomers is low, facilitating industrial production.
