Abstract:
In a management system of a storage unit controlling, of storage devices with a plurality of ranks, the storage device with a rank to which data is assigned, a first rank defining process (a process for assigning a plurality of storage devices to a plurality of ranks on the basis of the storage device classification of each of a plurality of storage devices and classification/rank information indicative of the correspondence relationship between a plurality of storage device classifications and a plurality of ranks) is performed. In the management system, after the first rank defining process, performance information indicative of the performance of the storage device is obtained for each of the plurality of storage devices. In the management system, a second rank defining process (a process for assigning a plurality of storage devices to a plurality of ranks on the basis of the performance information of a plurality of storage devices such that two or more storage devices with similar performances are assigned to the same rank) is performed.
