Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and system for caching a video file. The method comprises: obtaining video file information which comprises at least metadata; generating auxiliary transcoding data corresponding to the video file, wherein the auxiliary transcoding data comprises at least an index file required for transcoding the video file to a TS stream file; and caching the obtained video file information and the corresponding auxiliary transcoding data. The obtained video file information and the corresponding auxiliary transcoding data are cached. Whereby, on one hand, when requesting to access a video file, a user searches the memory first and can directly read the video file from the memory if the video file is found, such that parsing is faster as compared with reading/writing a file from a disk in the prior art. On the other hand, because the auxiliary transcoding data is cached in the memory in advance and no longer needs to be converted in use, transcoding is accelerated though some storage space is consumed. Thus, user experience is effectively improved.
