A method for providing a currency exchange service, performed by a main server, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: (a) when receiving a currency exchange request from a user terminal registered with a telecommunication company in a first country, providing remittance request information corresponding to the currency exchange request; (b) when it is confirmed that payment has been completed according to the remittance request information, creating a virtual wallet corresponding to the user terminal and depositing an amount of money exchanged from the currency of the first country to the currency of a second country; (c) when receiving, in the second country, a withdrawal request for money from the second country from the user terminal, checking the balance of the virtual wallet for the user terminal, and then providing withdrawal identification information to the user terminal; and (d) receiving, in the second country, a user's input information from a withdrawal target object, and if the user's input information and the withdrawal identification information correspond to each other, allowing withdrawal of the exchanged amount of money requested by the user terminal within the amount of money deposited in the currency of the second country through the withdrawal target object, wherein the withdrawal target object means an affiliate store terminal in the second country or an automated teller machine (ATM) terminal in the second country, the withdrawal identification information is any one of one time password (OTP) information, a barcode, and a QR code, and the virtual wallet is linked with a first-country main account of a first-country bank server and a second-country main account of a second-country bank server such that deposited money of the first country is transferred to the first-country main account, and money requested for withdrawal is withdrawn from the second-country main account.
