Abstract:
Methods (300) and systems (100) for determining a surface color of a target surface (102) under an environment (104) with an environmental light source (106). A plurality of images (105) of the target surface (102) are captured as the target surface (102) is illuminated with a variable intensity, constant color light source (118) and a constant intensity, constant color environmental light source (106), wherein the intensity of the light source (118) on the target surf ace (102) is varied by a known amount between the capturing of the images (105). A color feature tensor, independent of the environmental light source (106), is extracted from the image data, and used to infer a surface color of the target surface (102).
