Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and a system for generating a parallel processing based terrain model. The method for generating a terrain model according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: splitting a target region for generating a terrain model into a plurality of unit areas; searching unit image data corresponding to each of the plurality of unit areas, from the plurality of image data showing at least a part of the target region; generating a unit terrain model for each of the unit areas using the searched unit image data; and generating a terrain model of the target region using the generated unit terrain model, wherein the unit terrain model is generated by parallel processing each of the unit areas corresponding to the unit image data, thus enhancing the terrain model generation speed by distributing the load, and when an update is needed afterwards, updating only the unit area to be updated from the target region can be carried out easily.
