Abstract:
A protection method and a protection system for a wind farm disconnected to a utility grid, wherein the wind farm comprises a plurality of wind turbines, and each of the wind turbine comprises an auxiliary equipment, a transformer unit and a generator, and the transformer unit has three winding circuits. For each of the wind turbine, the protection system comprises: three measuring units and a control system. The protection method comprises: electrically connecting auxiliary equipment to the first winding circuit of the transformer unit of the respective one of the plurality of wind turbines; electrically connecting the third winding circuit of the respective one of the plurality of wind turbines to the respective one of the at least one cable; selecting one of the plurality of wind turbines as the first wind turbine; for the first wind turbine, electrically connecting its generator to the second winding circuit of its transformer unit, otherwise electrically connecting its generator to auxiliary equipment of other wind turbine via its transformer unit, the cable connecting the first wind turbine and the other wind turbine, and the transformer unit of the other wind turbine; judging a first fault of one of the plurality of wind turbines in consideration of its first set of current vectors by using differential current criterion; judging a second fault of the first wind turbine free of the first fault in consideration of operation status and the adapted configuration of the wind farm. By having the protection method and the protection system, the threshold setting for overcurrent protection scheme can be adapted to the configuration of the wind farm and operation of its components in islanding mode, thus reliability and sensitivity is improved.
