A method for self-installation of a wireless network card includes: integrating an installation package of the wireless network card driver and applications into the flash space inside a mobile terminal, wherein the installation package is of ISO format; setting the space that is not occupied by the installation package in the flash space as a Universal Serial Bus(USB) disk for the use of storing by users; and mapping the installation package to a virtual Compact Disk (CD) driver to enable the self-installation of the wireless network card driver and the applications. A system for self-installation of a wireless network card includes an integration and setting unit for integrating an installation package of the wireless network card driver and applications into the flash space inside a mobile terminal, wherein the installation package is of ISO format; and setting the space that is not occupied by the installation package in the flash space as a USB disk for the use of storing by users. As the method and the system of the present invention are adopted, the self-installation function of the mobile terminal can be developed by terminal manufacturers independently, and the available storage space that is not occupied by the installation packet in the mobile terminal can be utilized as well.
