Abstract:
A method and system for testing the residual service life of a pipe. The method for testing the residual service life of a pipe comprises: acquiring a strain hardening modulus value of at least three polyethylene materials with a known design service life T (S10); according to the strain hardening modulus value and the design service life T, building a function T = a0 + a1 × + a2 × 2 +...+ an × n, wherein a0, a1, a2... an are pre-set coefficients, and n is a pre-set highest degree of the function and is a positive integer (S20); acquiring a test sample (a) from an in-service pipe (S30); measuring a strain hardening modulus value of the test sample (a) (S40); substituting the strain hardening modulus value of the test sample (a) into the function to replace the strain hardening modulus value , so as to calculate a service life as the residual service life of the test sample (a) (S50). The residual service life of the test sample (a) can be obtained to serve as a residual service life reference value of an in-service pipe which fails due to slow crack propagation, and the risk of the in-service pipe failing due to slow crack propagation is discovered in time.
