Abstract:
When an organic solvent containing a flammable solvent having high flammability is concentrated and burned, there is a risk of the occurrence of ignition during the concentration. A method for treating a volatile organic compound, characterized by comprising the steps of: adsorbing a stock gas containing the volatile organic compound onto a catalyst, reforming a portion of the stock gas with the catalyst and discharging a reformed gas; allowing steam to penetrate through the catalyst to detach an adsorbed component on the catalyst from the catalyst; and burning a mixed gas composed of the adsorbed component and the steam. According to the method, the adsorbed component on the catalyst can be detached from the catalyst together with the steam, and therefore the risk of the occurrence of ignition can be reduced.
