Description:
1

A METHOD AND A TOOL OF DECORATING BAKED GOODS WITH ONE OR MORE

DRAGEE BALLS

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to a method and a tool of decorating baked goods with one or more dragee balls.

BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION

A dragee is a bite-sized, colourful form of confectionery with a hard outer shell, which is often used for another purpose (e.g. decorative, symbolic, medicinal, etc.), in addition to consumption purely for enjoyment. One form of dragee is a small sphere of sugar, used primarily in the decoration of cookies, cakes, and other forms of bakery. These dragees are produced in various sizes, typically 2 to 6 millimeters in diameter.

Silver dragees have long been used for both wedding and holiday food decoration. More recently, metallic gold, copper, rainbow colors (red, green, blue, etc.), and pearlescent colors have become available.

Conventionally, the application of dragee balls does pose some significant problems in so far as the balls are particularly small which renders maneuvering difficult.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The object of this invention is to provide a method and a tool of decorating baked goods with one or more dragee balls which addresses some of the above concerns and/or provides the additional functionality included above this additional functionality being lacking in a conventional method of decorating baking with one or more dragees.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a tool for decorating baked goods with one or more dragee balls, the tool comprising one or more of the following: an hopper, operable to accommodate one or more dragee balls therein; a plunger, operable to push said one or more dragee balls out of said hopper; a spring, operable to return said plunger to a starting position; a nozzle, operable to ensure that said one or more dragee balls are forced out of said tool.

In an embodiment of the invention, said tool further comprises a main body with a channel running within, operable to accommodate said hopper and said nozzle attached thereto. In an embodiment, said main body is operable to receive said plunger within a channel of the main body, and also able to accommodate a spring within.

In an embodiment, said plunger further includes push rod, operable to push said dragee balls out of said tool. In an embodiment of this invention, said push rod is long enough so as to deposit more than one dragee balls, one after the other, at any given time.

In an embodiment of the invention, said nozzles are manufactured from a silicone and/or soft rubber material.

In an embodiment of the invention, said tool's main body has a channel which is optimized to accommodate dragee balls of 2 to 6mm in diameter.

In an embodiment of the invention, said applicator tool is operable to deposit one dragee ball at a time, until said hopper is empty.

According to a second aspect of the invention, there is provided a method of using a dragee applicator tool developed in accordance with embodiments of the invention, to decorate baked goods with one or more dragee balls, the method comprising one or more of the following steps of a user: attaching a hopper to the main body of the tool; placing one or more dragee balls of a specific size in the chosen hopper of said dragee applicator tooixlosing the cap of said hopper; closing the cap of said hopper; attaching a nozzle to the front of the main body: pushing the plunger of said applicator tool so as to deposit one or more dragee balls on said baked goods, wherein a spring in said applicator tool ensures that positive pressure is exerted on the hand of said user, in use.

In an embodiment of the invention, said method comprises the user placing said applicator tool at a desired location, before pushing on said plunger.

In an embodiment of the invention, said method further includes allowing the said spring to move back the said plunger to a starting point, once a first deposit of said dragee balls have been made, so as to be ready for a next application of dragee balls.

In an embodiment of the invention, said method comprises the user placing said applicator tool at a desired location, before pushing on said plunger.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

These and other features of this invention will become apparent from the following description of one example described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 shows a tool for decorating baked goods with one or more dragee bails, in accordance with embodiments of the invention; and

Figure 2 shows a method of decorating baked goods with one or more dragee baits, in accordance with embodiments of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

With reference to Figure 1, a tool for decorating baked goods with one or more dragee balls, in accordance with embodiments of the invention, is generally described with reference to numeral 100.

The 100 comprises a main body 102 to which a hopper 104 and a nozzle 106 can be attached. The main body 102 can also receive a plunger 108. which includes a push rod 110 at one end and a handle 112 at the other end. The push rod 110 is accommodatingly received in a channel 114 of the main body 102 of the tool 100. The main body 102 also includes a handgrip 116, which is designed to optimize handling of the tool 100 by the user.

The hopper 104 is operable to receive the dragee balls therein. The hopper 104 includes a cap 118, which is capable of sealing the hopper 104.

With reference to Figure 2, a method of decorating baked goods with one or more dragee balls, in accordance with embodiments of the invention, is generally described with reference to numeral 200. In this example embodiment of the invention, said method 200 comprises the following steps:

At block 202, attaching a hopper to a main body. At block 204. attaching a nozzle to the main body.

At block 206, placing dragee balls in the hopper of the dragee applicator tool 100 of Figure 1.

At block 208, a user closing a cap of the hopper

At block 210. the method includes the user placing the nozzle applicator tool at a desired location, before pushing on the plunger.

At block 212, the plunger of the applicator tool 100 is pushed in. so as to deposit the dragee balls on the baked goods, wherein a spring in the applicator tool ensures that positive pressure is exerted on the hand of said user, in use.

At block 214, the method further includes allowing the spring to move the plunger back to a starting point, once a first deposit of the dragee balls has been made, ready for the next application of dragee balls
