Abstract:
To provide a method for toppling a tower building more safely, simply, and quickly than is conventionally possible.
A method for toppling a tower building 10 secured to and supported on a base 20, wherein the method has: a base division step for cutting the base 20 substantially in the horizontal direction and dividing the base 20 into an upper base 22 and a lower base 26; an upper base dividing step for cutting the upper base 22 in the vertical direction from above to a substantially horizontal surface 20a and dividing the upper base 22 into a support base portion 23 and a separate base portion 24; a removing step for removing the separate base portion 24; and a toppling step for toppling the tower building 10 together with the support base portion 23 such that the lower edge of a vertical cut surface 22a of the support base portion 23 serves as a tumble axis 23a, the tumble axis 23a being positioned closer to the toppling-direction side of the tower building than is the center of gravity C. Thus, because the tumble axis 23a of a solid base serves directly as a tumble fulcrum, there is no risk of the base being destroyed even by the concentration of buckling load, and it is possible to topple the tower building in an intended direction.
