Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving a media service. In particular, a method for receiving a media service may comprise the steps of: receiving and storing media presentation description information including segment Uniform Resource Locator (URL) information for media segments and timing information for presentation of the media segments, receiving and storing media segments transmitted via at least one of multicast and unicast, and outputting a media segment requested for content playback among the stored media segments; receiving a control message including at least one URL base pattern information for identifying at least one media segment transmitted through multicast and at least one URL base pattern information for identifying at least one media segment transmitted through unicast; and updating the segment URL information in the stored media presentation description information on the basis of each URL base pattern information included in the received control message.
