Title:
METHOD FOR TREATING ALDEHYDE-CONTAINING LIQUID WASTE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/181992
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to remove formaldehyde from formaldehyde-containing liquid waste to ensure the liquid waste to be reused efficiently. The liquid waste coming from a retort apparatus (2) is stored in a first storage tank (210), and is allowed to circulate through a circulation path (240). A sulfite salt is added from a first chemical feeder (243) to the circulating liquid waste to cause the reaction between the sulfite salt with the liquid waste, thereby converting formaldehyde in the liquid waste into hydroxymethanesulfonate ions. In this manner, processed water is produced. During the reaction, a pH-adjusting agent is added as required from a second chemical feeder (244) to keep the pH value of the formaldehyde-containing liquid waste at a value lower than 7. The processed water is supplied to a reverse osmosis membrane unit (320) from the first storage tank (210) through a connection path (310) to filtrate the processed water, and the permeated water from which the hydroxymethanesulfonate ions have been removed is returned to the retort apparatus (2) for reuse. In the reverse osmosis membrane unit (320), the rate of collection of the permeated water is set on the basis of the electric conductivity (E1) of the liquid waste stored in the first storage tank (210) to prevent the formation of scales.
