Abstract:
A method of treating a flue gas containing combustible components that at the cessation or shutdown of the operation of a vertical furnace, remains in a flue gas pathway including flue gas treating equipment. The method of treating a residual flue gas is characterized in that after blocking of the flue gas pathway between the vertical furnace and the flue gas treating equipment (a), burning diffusion is carried out at a flow rate exceeding the backfire velocity of CO and H2 (d) while feeding nitrogen into the flue gas pathway on its side of the flue gas treating equipment (b) and while maintaining the gas pressure within the flue gas pathway at a positive pressure (c).
