Abstract:
A method of treating a slate surface by which scattering of asbestos particulates,
etc. can be inhibited at the operation of removing extraneous matter from the
surface of asbestos slate, etc. Further, after this treatment, a slate reinforcing
procedure for enhancing the durability, antiweatherability and heat resistance
is conducted to thereby provide reinforced slate (1) comprising slate base material
(2) and, superimposed thereon in sequence, reinforced layer (3), foundation
layer (4) and surface layer (5). In the surface treatment, 1/3 of the amount of
penetrating primer used is applied to the surface of base material, followed
by hardening, etc., to thereby form an asbestos particulate scattering inhibition
layer. This layer serves a surface fixation only and is prohibited from infiltration
in the interior of the base material. Thereafter, the removing of extraneous
matter from the surface of the base material, etc. are carried out. When the remaining
2/3 of penetrating primer is applied onto the surface of slate base material (2),
the penetrating primer infiltrates from a porous surface of the base material,
reaching deteriorated region (21) and sound region (22) and hardens to thereby
form reinforced layer (3).
