Abstract:
The present invention belongs to the technical field of liquid crystal materials, and specifically relates to a method for using a fluorinated azobenzene to regulate a liquid crystal reflection colour. The fluorinated azobenzene has the feature of multiple wavelength photoresponses, and can undergo different degrees of cis-trans isomerisation when irradiated with light having different wavelengths. The fluorinated azobenzene, a chiral dopant and a liquid crystal matrix are mixed evenly according to a certain ratio, and poured into a liquid crystal cell. The wavelength of a stimulating light source is altered to accurately regulate a reflection colour of the liquid crystal cell to be red, green or blue. The regulation method uses a photostationary state to control the liquid crystal reflection colour, thereby overcoming the limitation that traditional methods use a transition state to regulate a reflection colour. The present invention may be applied to numerous field such as liquid crystal displays, optical logic switches, optical storage and anti-counterfeiting.
