Brief description of the drawing

Figure 1 shows the schematic diagram of the hexane burner system in accordance with the present invention.

Detailed description of the invention

The method in accordance with the present invention involves a cylinder (metallic container) inside which volatile liquid hydrocarbon is stored. A measured volume of air a controlled pressure is bubbled through the liquid through a micro disperser. This results in carrying of the molecules of liquid hydrocarbon along with the air which forms a rich mixture. This rich mixture is carried through the pipe to the gas burner and is injected into the burner through a nozzle. However since the pressure of the rich fuel mixture is low and mixture to secondary air ratio is high hence a nozzle of bigger opening has to be set to achieve a beautiful blue smoke free flame. This nozzle setting is onetime and a flame characteristic is consistent. Burner knob is also modified to include a switch which triggers the air pump when actuated.

Present invention provides an innovative technology where in a volatile liquid hydrocarbon can be carried with air and can be used to burn in a burner. A conventional LPG burner is manufactured by several manufacturers in Indiaand is an item available in every household. The burner is also available in open market. Therefore switching over from LPG to Hexane and vice versa is easy. This method in accordance with present invention has an added advantage that a conventional LPG stove can be used with minor tune up and does not call for replacement a new expensive burner.

Hexane as a fuel is easily available as a byproduct of Petroleum refining. It is a cheaper fuel. The liquids that can be successfully used are Methanol, Ethanol, Hexane, Petrol, Thinner or mixtures of above liquids.

The cooking system in accordance with present invention is doing away with electronic regulator by replacing it with a simple constant pressure pump. The pressure exceeds in the storage tank thus eliminating all the problems connected with the excess pressure. The air pump is a table model type to be kept on the kitchen Table while the cylinder (Storage Tank) is kept below the Table. A safe distance is maintained between the pump and the cylinder.

The cooking system in accordance with present invention comprises of (as shown in figure 1)

A. Cylinder (Storage tank) made of mild steel construction to store the fuel.

B. Air pump AC or DC operated with or without battery backup.

C. Atomizer (H)

D. Gas stove ( Gas Burner )

E. Interconnecting pipings.

Air from the air pump is delivered to the cylinder (storage tank)(l) through interconnecting pipings . Pipe from the air pump is connected to the air pipe (G) by quick release coupling male (A) and quick release coupling female (B). A shutoff valve (C) and Non return float valve (D) is connected to the air pipe (G). An atomizer (H) is fixed at the end of the air pipe. So a measured volume of the air at a controlled pressure is bubbled through the hydrocarbon liquid stored through the atomizer. This process results in carrying of the molecules of liquid hydrocarbon along with the air which forms a rich mixture. The resulting mixture is carried through the pipe to the gas burner (gas stove) (Fig: 1) SALIENT FEATURES OF THE COOKING SYSTEM

CYLINDER ( STORAGE TANK)

A 3 to7 Kg Cylinder (storage tank) is made of a 14 gauge weldable grade steel sheet pressed to form cups. The cups are welded to form the storage tank. The entire cylinder after welding is stress relieved by sub critical annealing at 700 DegC to prevent welding cracks. The tank is shot peened, metalized and painted to prevent rusting and deterioration. The cylinder is fitted with an inlet pipe with a quick release coupling (A, B), shut off valve(C), non-return valve (D) and air atomizer (H) and reaches the bottom of the tank. Inlet pipe has dual purpose. 1. To feed air during use. 2. To feed fuel during refilling. The cylinder is fitted with an outlet pipe with hose coupling (F), quick release coupling with built-in shutoff feature. The outlet pipe has dual purpose, a. To receive air fuel mixture and feed to the burner during normal use. b. To collect vapor and feed to the vapor collecting duct during refilling.

The storage tank will full fill the following criteria.

a. Strong enough to withstand the impact of transportation and handling. b. Able to withstand the pressure of fuel and air.

c. Rust proof.

d. Have provision for easy refilling.

e. Fuel inside will be pilfer proof.

f. Have connectivity free of leaks.

g. Made easily distinguishable from LPG cylinders by suitable color identification.

h. Well-designed one way flow valve to prevent reverse flow of fuel.

AIR PUMP :Air pump have the following features: a. Air pump will be constant pressure type. Flow of air diminishes with the increase in air pressure inside the storage tank. Therefore the pressure inside the Fuel storage tank will never exceed the set limit. b. The pump is capable to operate with single phase domestic supply with options of battery backup.

c. Pump can be table model so that it can be placed at a safe distance from the fuel tank to meet safety standards.

Instead of an air pump any constant pressure air source at the desired pressure can be used instead.

3. GAS STOVE :

Any conventional LPG domestic gas stove can be used with the following modification. a. Nozzle jet can be replaced with a remodified jet.

b. An electric switch can be optionally included with the gas flow adjusting knob so that the air pump can be switched on by turning the knob.

Advantages of the Present invention

The advantages of the present invention lies in its simplicity of design achieved right selection of air volume and pressure from any air source or remotely located air pumps. A simple air pump centrally in a housing complex can cater to all individual houses. A table type model air pump can be used for an individual burner. Further this invention does away with complex electronic individual regulators and excess pressure cut off system. As such electronic regulators mounted on a fuel filled cylinder is an unsafe practice and our invention does away with it. Hexane is a clean fuel very convenient for domestic use and in every way as good as LPG for the cleanliness of combustion.
