Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for welding longitudinal edge regions of sheet-metal strips (10) butting against each other, characterized by the following method steps: producing a bead or groove (12) having a specified distance parallel to the longitudinal edge of each sheet-metal strip (10); producing an upturn (16) along the longitudinal edge of each sheet-metal strip (10), the cross-sectional length of the upturn (16) corresponding substantially to the distance of the bead/groove (12); joining the upturns (16) of adjacent sheet-metal strips (10) to one another; fusing the joined upturns (16) of adjacent sheet-metal strips (10) by means of welding advancing in the longitudinal direction of the sheet-metal strips (10) using a welding head (18), without the use of additional welding material. The device according to the invention is suitable for implementing the method.
