Title:
METHODS AND MEANS FOR MODULATING THE IMMUNE RESPONSE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003052424
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
c-kit (CD117), STAT3, stem cell factor (SCF) and leukaemia inhibiting factor (LIF) are elevated in tolerant immune responses. These may be used in modulation of the immune response generated to an antigen, in particular controlling the presence or degree of tolerance an individual has to an antigen, whether foreign or self. The immune status of an individual, for example with reference to an antigen, may be determined by testing c-kit (CD117), STAT3, stem cell factor (SCF) and/or leukaemia inhibiting factor (LIF) levels.
