Abstract:
A reinforced electrolyte membrane obtained by directly impregnating molten electrolyte resin into a porous reinforced membrane is produced by a simple method. A membrane electrode joint body provided with a reinforced electrolyte membrane is simply produced by slightly modifying the method of producing a reinforced electrolyte membrane. Heated/molten electrolyte resin (p) is extruded from the resin outlet (3) of a die (2), and porous reinforced membranes (6) are fed into the extruded molten electrolyte resin (p). The porous reinforced membranes (6) fed by two oppositely-arranged heated rotary rolls (4) are embedded into molten electrolyte resin (p) to allow the resin (p) to impregnate into the membranes (6), thereby forming a reinforced electrolyte membrane (20). When the surfaces of the rotary rolls (4) are coated with electrode catalyst particles (31), a membrane electrode joint body (40) provided with a reinforced electrolyte membrane (20) can be formed.
