Abstract:
Provided is a microbe and virus inactivation device that is capable of efficient inactivation in a space where a human may be present while taking into consideration the effects on the human. This microbe and virus inactivation device comprises: a light source that emits ultraviolet rays in a specific wavelength region in the range of 190-235 nm; a control unit that controls the illumination of the light source; and a detection unit that detects the presence of a human in a detection target region that is a portion of the region irradiated with ultraviolet rays or is a region adjacent to the irradiated region. When the detection unit does not detect the presence of a human, the control unit controls the light source so as to increase the cumulative ultraviolet ray irradiation dose per unit time.
