The present invention provides small peptide fragments derived from microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF), and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating melanoma, containing the same as active ingredients. In addition, the present invention provides a cosmetic composition for skin whitening and/or skin pigmentation suppression, containing the peptide fragments as active ingredients.
