A microscopic object detection system (100) comprises a collecting kit (10) and a detection device (1). The collecting kit (10) has a thin film (106) for converting light into heat and is configured to be capable of holding a sample (SP) on the thin film (106). The detection device (1) collects a plurality of microscopic objects dispersed in the sample (SP) using the collecting kit (10) so as to detect a plurality of microscopic objects in the sample (SP). The detection device (1) includes a laser module (4), a light reception device (8), and a controller (9). The laser module (4) emits a laser beam for illuminating the collecting kit (10). The light reception device (8) detects the laser beam from the sample (SP) held by the collecting kit (10) and outputs a detection signal therefrom. The controller (9) calculates the amount of a plurality of microscopic objects collected in the sample (SP) on the basis of a change of the detection signal over time.
