Title:
MICROWAVE HEATING DEVICE, AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING CARBON FIBERS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/123249
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In a process for producing carbon fibers, when microwaves are used for heating a fiber to be heated, the physical properties thereof change as the process progresses, posing the problem in that it is difficult to maintain an optimal heating state. This microwave heating device that performs heating using microwaves in a heating chamber is provided with a microwave emitting part that: applies a voltage between two specific points on the fiber to be heated; calculates the conductivity of the fiber to be heated from the value of the voltage applied between the two points, the value of the electric current flowing between the two points, the distance between the two points, and the cross-sectional area of the fiber to be heated; and adjusts the microwave output so as to perform heating according to a pre-calculated carbonization rate for the carbon fiber to be heated, the electric conductivity, and the microwave output.
