Title:
MINIATURE ROBOT HAVING MULTIPLE LEGS USING PIEZO LEGS HAVING TWO DEGREES OF FREEDOM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/073803
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a miniature robot having multiple legs by using a plurality of piezo legs capable of operating in two degrees of freedom by supplying a voltage once, and an integrated artificial neural network behavior controller capable of modeling complicated behavioral patterns through a simple structure. The miniature robot having multiple legs includes: a main body; a plurality of piezo legs constituted by a bimorph piezoelectric element and connected to the main body to generate motion through morphological deformation in two directions by an applied voltage, thereby resulting in movement along the ground; and a control part including an artificial neural network behavior controller, which controls movement patterns by feeding back information with respect to the external environment transmitted from an external sensor and to an electrical signal transmitted when the piezo legs contact the surface of the ground, to control the voltage applied to each of the piezo legs.
