The present invention addresses the problem of obtaining a mirror-exchanging device (1) for a segmented mirror telescope with which high precision positioning of a segment mirror (3) is possible. A mirror-exchanging device provided with a gripping mechanism (6) for gripping a segment mirror (3), a fine drive mechanism (7) for changing the position and orientation of the gripping mechanism (6), a segment mirror-lifting mechanism (4), first detection parts (111, 112) for detecting the relative position and relative orientation between a comparison object and a target object, a second detection part (110) for detecting flexure of the fine drive mechanism, and a mirror exchange control unit for performing the exchange of said segment mirror on the basis of the detection signals from said detection parts. The mirror exchange control unit has a determination section for determining whether or not measurement by the first detection parts (111, 112) is possible and performs control on the basis of the detection signals from the first detection parts when measurement is determined to be possible, and from the second detection part when measurement is determined not to be possible.
