Title:
MIRROR WITH IMPROVED BUTTON CONSTRUCTION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2002030707
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
An electrified rearview mirror (20) includes a housing (21) supporting a mirror subassembly (22), and a bezel (23) attached to the housing. The bezel includes a plurality of three-sided button openings (25), with the openings extending onto a bottom wall (24) of the housing. A push-button (27) is pivotally supported in each opening with the hinge axis at a low position so the buttons are not accidentally depressed when the housing is grasped to adjust an angle of the mirror. The bezel and buttons include pairs of tabs (48) and slots (51') forming a bottom pivot, and further include stops (49) and hooks (53) at the top forming stroke-limiting mechanisms. A finger rail depression (68) extends along the bottom wall of the housing parallel the buttons to facilitate a driver sliding his/her fingers along the mirror to a desired position for selecting a particular button to depress. The buttons include feel locators (69) that help the driver identify particular buttons without looking.
