A travel mechanism (4) mounted to a base body (2) comprises travel bodies (40R, 45R) and travel bodies (40L, 45L), the travel bodies (40R, 45R) and the travel bodies (40L, 45L) being separated in the front-rear direction of the base body (2) and being arranged parallel to each other on both the left and right sides of the base body (2). Chains (41R, 41L, 46R, 46L) are driven in a circulating manner and are configured so that the travel surface (P)-side rectilinear portions on the circulation paths are extend in the front-rear direction. Rollers (44R, 44L, 49R, 49L) are arranged on the outer peripheral surfaces of the chains (41R, 41L, 46R, 46L) in the longitudinal direction and are supported so that the rollers (44R, 44L, 49R, 49L) each can rotate about the axis thereof which is tilted relative to the front-rear direction. In the extended portions of the chains, the peripheral surfaces of the rollers (44R, 44L, 49R, 49L) make contact with the travel surface (P), and as a result of the configuration, a mobile body (1) has excellent load bearing ability and has satisfactory stability.
