Abstract:
This invention relates to locator devices that may be used to assist in finding a misplaced mobile device. Previously, mobile devices were prone to being misplaced, especially by harried, distracted, or busy individuals. Embodiments of the present invention use a receiver (22) associated with a mobile device (12) and configured to emit a return signal (30) after receiving an interrogative signal (20). A locator device (10) assists a user in locating the mobile device. The locator device is configured to be used to locate the receiver associated with the mobile device by emitting the interrogative signal, receiving the return signal from the receiver, calculating a distance from the locator device to the receiver associated with the mobile device, activating the indicator at a frequency corresponding to the distance, and adjusting the frequency of the indicator when the distance changes.
