Title:
A MOBILE PLATFORM FOR TRANSPORTING WOOD AND CONTAINERS IN A RAIL TRANSPORT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2021/130511
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A mobile platform for transporting wood and containers in rail transport consisting of two external platforms (1.1. 1.2.) and an internal platform (1.3) in the form of modular stanchion cages, characterized in that the stanchion cage consists of a base (1.4) in the form of a frame with tangs (1.5) for securing the container, to which the frame is attached and removable stanchions (1.6) folding inwards, secured with pins (1.7) with two levels of extension, equipped with fasteners (1.8) for the conveyor belt, and on both sides of the frame at equal intervals on each of the cage segments ratchet mechanisms (1.9) are placed to secure the wood with conveyor belt, while the external platforms (1.1., 1.2.) are divided by an internal platform (1.3.) located between the external platforms, and the foregoing platforms are connected to each other by screws, which allows them to be combined into modules and simple assembly and disassembly of the entire platform.

Description:
A mobile platform for transporting wood and containers in a rail transport

Technical field

A mobile platform for transporting wood and containers in a rail transport used in a rail transport for the purpose of transporting wood.

Background Art

Numerous transportation platforms have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the wood industry such as railcars specifically adapted to carry the wood. US5323711A patent discloses a railcar adapted for hauling tree length timber and long logs which includes a railroad car comprising a central support member having at least one set of wheels disposed near its ends. A bulkhead is affixed to each end of the central support member and a plurality of cross members extend from the central support member, to which a plurality of stanchions are affixed. Thus, the cross members and the stanchions preferably form substantially "U"-shaped structures that are in a spaced- apart. The foregoing invention does not provide for the mobility of the whole transportation platform due to the fact that stanchions are unfolded and fixed to platform while the invention according to the application disclosed herein offers a platform which is movable and can be extended into sequences of modular transporting platforms enabling a transport of wood and other cargo in its way back. In the current state of the art, railcars used for wood transportation are designed in a fixed way enabling only wood transportation what has resulted in a fact that on its way back to the original destination railcars are transported without any cargo. It would therefore be highly advantageous to provide a platform as covered by the patent application herein which does not possess the foregoing defects.

Disclosure of invention

This invention relates to a mobile platform for transporting wood and containers in a rail transport consisting of two external platforms and an internal platform in the form of modular stanchion cages, where the stanchion cage consists of a base in the form of a frame with tangs for securing the container, to which the frame is attached and removable stanchions folding inwards, secured with pins with two levels of extension, equipped with fasteners for the conveyor belt, and on both sides of the frame at equal intervals on each of the cage segments ratchet mechanisms are placed to secure the wood with conveyor belt, while the external platforms are divided by an internal platform located between the external platforms, and the foregoing platforms are connected to each other by screws, which allows them to be combined into modules and simple assembly and disassembly of the entire platform.

Brief description of drawings

The present invention is illustrated in drawings, where Fig. 1 presents a view of the entire platform, Fig. 2 the view of external platform, Fig. 3 the view of internal platform.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention

A mobile platform for transporting wood and containers in rail transport consisting of two external platforms (1.1. 1.2.) and an internal platform (1.3) in the form of modular stanchion cages, where stanchion cage consists of a base (1.4) in the form of a frame with tangs (1.5) for securing the container, to which the frame is attached and removable stanchions (1.6) folding inwards, secured with pins (1.7) with two levels of extension, equipped with fasteners (1.8) for the conveyor belt, and on both sides of the frame at equal intervals on each of the cage segments ratchet mechanisms (1.9) are placed to secure the wood with conveyor belt, while the external platforms (1.1., 1.2.) are divided by an internal platform (1.3.) located between the external platforms, and the foregoing platforms are connected to each other by screws, which allows them to be combined into modules and simple assembly and disassembly of the entire platform.
