Abstract:
A mobile robot of the present invention comprises: a first pattern emitting unit for emitting a first-patterned light towards a floor in a cleaning area in front of a main body; and a second pattern emitting unit for emitting a second-patterned light towards the upper front direction with respect to the main body, wherein the mobile robot is configured so as to acquire, through an image acquisition unit, an image in which the patterned lights respectively emitted from the first pattern emitting unit and the second pattern emitting unit are incident on an obstacle, and to detect the patterns from the acquired image, thereby determining the obstacle, and thus the mobile robot may determine, on the basis of information on nearby obstacles, whether the current situation is a constrained situation in which travelling is restricted due to multiple obstacles, and may travel by setting an escape route on the basis of the information on the nearby obstacles, and thus may make a quick determination regarding obstacles and the traveling state of the mobile robot, and operate accordingly, and may more effectively escape from a constrained situation and travel.
