Abstract:

In a first operation mode, a mobile station communicates at least a control channel with a predetermined frequency. In a second operation mode, the mobile station searches peripheral cells in synchronization with a frequency different from the predetermined frequency. The mobile station includes: measurement means for acquiring a measurement value in a radio channel at a certain measurement cycle; and decision means for comparing the measurement value to a threshold value and decides the operation mode to the first or the second operation mode. When the measurement value is worse than the threshold value, report of the measurement value to the base station is inhibited, so that the base station can check the operation mode of the mobile station. Alternatively, a signal indicating the operation mode may be transmitted from the mobile station to the base station.
