Provided are a mobile terminal device automatic IP acquisition method and system, the method comprising the following steps: detecting currently accessible access points; selecting one access point from among the access points for sending an IP address acquisition request; receiving a response message issued by the access point, acquiring an IP address in the response message, and configuring the IP address. The present technical solution has the advantage of high security.
