Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive radio resource control (RRC) signaling indicating a duration for a timer to be used during a random access channel (RACH) procedure in which the UE transmits mobile-originated uplink data. While in an inactive mode, the UE may transmit the mobile-originated uplink data in a first message of the RACH procedure and the UE may start the timer based at least in part on transmitting the uplink data. The UE may monitor, while in the inactive mode and for the duration of the timer indicated in the RRC signaling, to detect a second message of the RACH procedure including mobile-terminated downlink data in response to the mobile-originated uplink data.
