A mobile unit, a stock article management system, and a method for positioning a mobile unit. The method comprises: a management unit acquires positions of the mobile units by sensors, the sensors comprising first sensors and second sensors, the first sensors being distributed above the mobile units and transported articles and each of the first sensors acquiring the positions of the mobile units and the transported articles in one region; and when the mobile units are located below the transported articles, the second sensors provided on the mobile units acquire relative positions of the mobile units and the transported articles, the management unit obtaining the positions of the mobile units by calculating the positions of the transported articles and the relative positions of the mobile units and the transported articles. In the method, the quantity of the sensors is merely related to the size of an operating space and is irrelevant to the quantity of the mobile units; and thus, requirements for an AGV on-board processor are lowered and non-intelligent mobile units can be easily modified.
