Abstract:
A modification catalyst composition for use in the reaction of methane, a natural gas, or a town gas with steam to produce a hydrogen-containing gas, characterized in that it comprises a nickel oxide and a lanthanum oxide and at least a part thereof has a perovskite structure; the catalyst composition using a material comprising an oxide such as alumina, silica or a zirconia and, formed thereon, the above composition having a provskite structure, as a carrier; the catalyst composition comprising the above composition having a provskite structure as a carrier and nickel carried thereon; and the catalyst composition comprising the above composition having a provskite structure as a carrier and ruthenium carried thereon. The modification catalyst is capable of retaining a high activity for a prolonged time and allows the production of a gas having a high hydrogen concentration at a low S/C value.
