Abstract:

Provided is a modified polytetrafluoroethylene, which provides a paste having excellent extrusion moldability and a molded article having excellent mechanical characteristics. A modified polytetrafluoroethylene fine powder which is not melt-moldable, and which is characterized in that: the modified polytetrafluoroethylene is composed of a unit derived from tetrafluoroethylene, a unit derived from a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether represented by CF2=CFO-CnF2n+1 (wherein n represents an integer of 1-6) and a unit derived from a perfluoroalkyl ethylene represented by CH2=CH-CmF2m+1 (wherein m represents an integer of 3-6); and the unit derived from a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether is 0.1-0.25% by mass and the unit derived from a perfluoroalkyl ethylene is 0.001-0.05% by mass relative to all monomer units in the modified polytetrafluoroethylene.
