Abstract:
Provided are a modified polyvinyl alcohol capable of producing, with almost no reaction inhibition, discoloration or particle coarsening, a polyvinyl acetal of a low degree of polymerization and excellent solvent solubility, and a method for producing the modified polyvinyl alcohol. Also provided is a modified polyvinyl acetal having a low degree of polymerization, excellent solvent solubility, and high elasticity, mechanical strength and film-forming properties, as well as a method for producing the modified polyvinyl acetal, a polyvinyl acetal film using the modified polyvinyl acetal, a method for producing the polyvinyl acetal film, a ceramic slurry composition, a method for producing the ceramic slurry composition, and a ceramic green sheet. The modified polyvinyl alcohol is characterized in having, on the end of the molecule, at least one kind of functional group selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl groups, aldehyde groups, carboxyl groups and lactone ring groups, the degree of saponification being 99.95 mole% or more, and the content of 1,2-glycol bonds being 1.4 mole% or less.
