Title:
MODIFIED POLYVINYL ALCOHOL, RESIN COMPOSITION, AND FILM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/056574
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a modified polyvinyl alcohol capable of forming a film exhibiting excellent cold-water solubility, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. The present invention is a modified polyvinyl alcohol containing a monomer unit represented by formula (I) and a structural unit represented by formula (II), wherein the monomer unit (I) content relative to the total monomer units in the modified polyvinyl alcohol is 0.05-10 mol%, inclusive, the structural unit (II) content relative to the total monomer units in the modified polyvinyl alcohol is 0.001-0.5 mol%, inclusive, the viscosity average polymerization degree is 300-3,000, inclusive, and the degree of saponification is 82-99.5 mol%, inclusive. In formula (I), R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group. R2 is -R3-SO3
-X+, -R3-N+(R4)3Cl-, or a hydrogen atom. R3 is an alkanediyl group. X+ is a hydrogen atom, a metal atom, or an ammonium group. R4 is an alkyl group.
