Abstract:
A modular brake rotor (10) having friction rings (24, 26) secured to a core (11). The core includes a hat section (12) having a hat wall (16) and a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart support ribs (22) a pair of friction rings having inner surfaces (24c, 24d) are secured to the support rib inboard and outboard mounting surfaces (22c, 22d). The support ribs extend into recesses (44) formed in the inner surfaces of the friction rings to secure the friction rings to the support ribs. The ribs may include protrusions (42a) formed using dowels (42) which extend through the support ribs and project out of the inboard and outboard mounting surfaces and into the recesses.
