Abstract:
A refractive microlens, mold for microlens production and process for producing them, realizing production of a mold with configuration just as designed and exhibition of high optical performance. There are sequentially performed the initial configuration step of forming recess (2) as initial configuration on substratum (1) of homogeneous material and the ion machining step of forming the recess (2) into spherical or cylindrical concave portion (3) by ion machining. The ion machining step is a riddance machining of, using a gas inert to the substratum (1) as ionization gas, exposing the substratum (1) to accelerated ion. The homogeneous material, when the substratum (1) is made of sapphire, has high melting point and high hardness, so that there can be obtained a mold for molding of all types of microlenses in contemporary use. Further, as the sapphire crystal has little defect, there can be obtained a mold with a surface free from defects.
