Abstract:
The present invention relates to a molten glass holding refractory in which a face of the refractory contacting the molten glass is coated with platinum or platinum alloy containing 5-20% of rhodium or iridium, and the platinum or platinum alloy coating is further coated with a ceramic material, wherein the refractory is characterized by comprising a total of 50-98 mass% of at least one type out of aluminum oxide and zirconium oxide, with the remainder comprising silicon oxide, thickness of the platinum or platinum alloy coating being 0.05-0.5 mm, the ceramic material comprising 80-95 mass% of zirconium oxide, with the remainder comprising at least one type selected from yttrium oxide, erbinium oxide and cerium oxide, thickness of the ceramic material coating being 0.1 mm or more, and porosity of the ceramic material coating being 5-20%.
