Abstract:
Provided are a monitored area setting device and a monitored area setting method capable of setting a particular area as an object detection range and continuously monitoring the particular area. The present invention includes: an object detection unit that detects an object which exists in the surroundings of a vehicle; a scene determination unit that determines whether the vehicle is positioned near a site in which an assumed blind area exists, on the basis of positional information of the vehicle and map information of the surroundings of the vehicle; a monitored area setting unit 9 that sets, when the scene determination unit determines that the vehicle is positioned near the site in which the assumed blind area exists, an area including at least the assumed blind area, viewed from the vehicle, as a monitored area in which a notification is given upon detection of an object while the vehicle is passing near the site; and an object selection unit that selects an object to be notified in accordance with whether the object satisfies a predetermined condition, in the monitored area.
