Abstract:
A monitoring recorder (10) comprises a video input section (12) for receiving a monitoring video, a moving object detecting section (18) for detecting a moving object from the received monitoring video, a face image detecting section (20) for detecting a portion having an elliptical contour from the detected object as a face image, the identity judging section (22) for judging whether or not the person of the newly detected face is the same person of the previously detected face image on the basis of the position of the detected face image, a stored image selecting section (24) for selecting either the face image of the same person stored in a recording medium (16) or the newly detected face image when it is judged that they are of the same person, and an image storage section (26) for storing the newly detected face image and information used to search for a face image on the recording medium (16) if the newly detected face image is selected. Consequently, an image suitable for storage can be detected from the monitoring video.
